Luckily life keeps going!

So, I feel pretty lucky. My life is amazing, busy, but still amazing. I have the best spouse in the world-sorry to anyone else that feels that way-Kyle is just awesome, I have a healthy, gorgeous baby, a roof over our heads, we have what we need and life is good.

HOWEVER, the last 36 hours haven't been so "flowery and rainbowy". I won't get into all the details, but the stress that comes from managing approved campus housing (more specifically the parents of the tenants) and the stress that comes from school projects seemed to add up and I came to a realization: even though I had a distinct desire to run away, life has a way of making you deal with things that are hard and so that's what happened- I sucked it all up and I'm hear to tell you I survived.
I did end up eating ranch dressing that had gone bad...so that was a close call, but other than that, I'm alive!

The last 36 hours of phone calls, emails, mediations are over! And life is great again!
Indie is napping, Kyle is home from work, I'm happily eating carrots and hummus and watching 'Maid in Manhatten' (Thanks J-Lo for the pick-me-up!)

my two biggest blessings:

Until next time, flowers and rainbows are the only way you can live...what's not to like about flowers and rainbows?

update

I have to apologize! I haven't written in AGES! But I'm here today to redeem myself in ONE BIG BLOG  POST!

Indie is growing like a weed and we are loving every minute of it! She recently has taken a liking to sucking chins...ANYONE'S chins! I'm not sure why, I think it may be a teething thing, but it's so funny
She crawls-when she wants to and is VERY chatty! She laughs at everything and she has learned to clap and to say please in sign language...well, I like to think she does, but I guess we are still working on it. She has also grown hair!!!
Just Kidding! She's still pretty hairless-but this picture was taken in light of her daddy growing his hair-which brings me to Kyle....
Has any other husbands out there adopted 'Mustache March' or 'Mustache May' perhaps?
Kyle takes any opportunity he can to grow out his facial hair-I'm not opposed...however just growing out his stache isn't my favorite. Especially because it is kind of sparse...similar to that of an Asian-I can say that, I lived in Singapore (and I love Asians...they just have a hard time growing facial hair, I guess Kyle's facial hair experience takes me to my roots and I can appreciate that!)

Look Closely at his hunky face...his moustache is there!

Now, it's my turn. For the last couple months, I have been enjoying motherhood in all it's glory, cooking pinterest delights, taking 2 classes (I WILL get my degree one day-one class at a time!), managing the apartment complex, keeping up with church callings, practicing guitar, going to the gym when I can and doing lots of little projects! I made a net to cover Indies' car seat during the summer (to keep out the bugs) It is also handy when we go for a stroll:

I feel some pride about what I have made (don't judge), I'm not trying to gloat, I am just excited that I made some things without any patterns! ( I can't follow a pattern if my life depended on it!) Some of my recent projects include, a pillowcase skirt, more skirts for Indie (of course), a little elephant pincushion (pictures to come) and my newest most exciting project a SKIRT! YAY! It's made out of a lace curtain-Indie has a matching one too! But just so you know how big of a deal this is for me. I even made a waistband, lining, added a button hole on my sewing machine AND inserted a zipper!
Lets just say-that was a VERY big day for me!

Now to the fun part-Indie and I had a Spring photo shoot today and I have to post the pictures for all of you to enjoy! As you will see she clearly enjoyed eating the flowers more than smiling!
I sure love this girl!

Notice her little skirt-it matches mine :) and notice that she is standing! :)

Anyways-that was a long blog! Hopefully I'm on here sooner rather than later.

Fine Motor Skills

I never thought that I would have mixed feelings about my child's developmental progression!
The positive side is that Indie has been developing her fine motor skills for a while and I have been really impressed with her ability to find a speckle of dirt on the floor and pick it up with her pointer finger and thumb....slowly and very precisely. It's really cute how she concentrates so hard and her little pinching fingers move very specifically towards the spec.
The negative note is that even though her little concentrating face and precise fingers are so cute, she has somehow zoned into a spec on my body...more specifically a mole that is unfortunately located right above the neckline on MOST of my shirts!
A cute and wonderful cuddle turns quickly into a fine motor catastrophe as I find my cute little Indie trying to pinch off my mole!

Anyways-back to the point, Indie is developing well and we are proud of her new found ability :)

We have a Girl!

We definitely have another girl in the home. I hope I can portray what happened clearly.
This evening Indie sat on my lap and while I made goofy sounds she laughed heartily. All of a sudden, while staring right into my eyes, I made the same goofy sound that I had been making for the last 15 minutes and she BURST into tears! I think we had a very tired girl on our hands.

I thought I was the only one with hormones in the house! I hope this isn't a sign of what is to come!

How could you not love that little face though..aww

-the joys of parenthood-

Indie is one of the biggest blessings in life but probably also one of the hardest. Not because I can't handle her, but because motherhood kind of throws you for a loop-everything I thought I knew before having a baby flew out the window when she was born and now every day, minute, second is a learning curve.....for all of us.
(Indie enjoying the learning curve)

The other day while I was multitasking (it's the only way to live now) I thought of all the wonderful things I do now that I am a mommy and thought I would share them with you.

Here it goes,

You know you're a parent when:
  • you spend a little extra time in the loo because you enjoy the ‘alone time
  •  you get a couple diapers from a friend whose baby grew out of them and it was the best gift you have received in a while
  •  you wake up in the middle of the night and your husband is rocking a pillow telling it to ‘shhhh"
  •  you get a boogy the size of  a dime out of your baby’s nose and you feel like you have won the lottery
  • you choose your clothes for the day out of the pile of clean laundry on your bed (that has been there for an undisclosed amount of time)
  •  you get 4 hours of sleep in the night and you feel well rested
  •  you are with a group of friends and you notice yourself swaying back and forth (it’s been a while since you haven’t held your baby)
  • your husband comes home from work and when he asks about your day, you say things like: 'Indie poked herself in the eye by accident' or 'Indie had 3 big poops'
  •  you have no idea what’s new at the cinema but you can recite ‘baby genius’ films off by heart
  •  you enjoy shopping for babies clothes more than your own
  •  you realize you have spent more money on nappies, wipes and other baby essentials than your car is worth
  •  using your spit to clean someone else’s face is a reflex
  •  you go from planning your day around your schedule to planning around your babysitter's schedule then…..
  • you have a babysitter but when you’re gone you check up on your baby more than you would if you hadn't have left in the first place
  •  rockaby baby: Beatles’ is the next best thing to the REAL BEATLES
  •  you realize you have been making funny faces and funnier sounds for the last hour and a half – anything to get your baby to smile
  •  your personal hygiene has gone out the window
  •  you realize at church (in your skirt) that you only shaved one leg because your baby started to cry while you were showering
  •  anything after 8:30pm is  ‘too late
  •  you take pictures of everything your baby does-including funny faces she makes when she poops
  •  you refer to your own mother as ‘gramma
  •  you have more upper body strength then you have had in a while
  •  your baby has a blow out and you don’t think it’s ‘that bad’
  •  you can understand her baby babble but have a hard time making conversation with friends-OR the only stories you can tell are about your birth experience or your child's newest discoveries
  •  you cut your spouses chicken up for him (by accident)
  •  you can bake cookies, write a shopping list, talk on the phone and start the laundry while feeding your baby
  •  you realize that all the baby advice you thought you knew BEFORE having a baby really doesn’t work when you have one
  • when someone spills something you pull out baby wipes from your handbag
  •  you wake up to a crying baby and when she sees you she smiles-so you would rather cuddle then go back to bed
I think I could go on for ever....I guess it just comes down to how much I love my munchkin and I LOVE how she has turned my world around.
It keeps things way more interesting this way!!!
